Candy isn't dandy when you're trying to lose weight!

With Halloween highlighting the fall season, avoiding sweets can be a devilish challenge.

Here are some tips:

  • Don't buy candy for trick-or-treaters until the very last minute.

  • Skip the candy altogether and hand out other goodies; small gift certificates; stickers; bags of snacks; pencils or raisins.

  • Buy the minimum amount of candy that you'll need. If you run short, call it a night of raid your kid's incoming bags. There will still be plenty.
